It’s a night off. We’ve stopped for the day in Lincolon, Nebraska, en route to Denver. I’m up the back of the bus listening to the beautiful and bizarre Dangermouse/Sparklehorse/David Lynch collaboration, Dark Night of the Soul, streamed from Minnesota Public Radio’s The Current. That’s a station worth checking out if you haven’t already.
We did a little live session for them in their St Paul studio – complete with funny mistakes and everything – then went on to play a show in the fabulous Cedar Cultural Center (ooh check my American spelling). What a beautiful place to play, and what lovely, funny, friendly staff. Thank you all so much. We would like to apologise for not putting your records back after dj-ing with them in the wonderful dressing room. And for, er, acquiring a wig from the huge dressing up box. Please forgive me – I get occasional bouts of hair nostalgia. The crowd were great too, by the way, as they always have been here.
In other news, and just to further illustrate the extent to which we take nothing to do with anything Belle and Sebastian related – I recently played guitar, along with The Attic Lights’ Tim Davidson, on a song for Stuart Murdoch’s God Help the Girl adventure. He posted a little blog about it, and you can also listen here.
Bluebird Theatre and some pretty special hot dogs next…

You guys were great on Saturday night. I was glad I finally got to see you guys perform in person. Sounded great and I had a wonderful time.
I wish I’d realized that it was Tracyanne standing behind me while toward the end of Agent Ribbons’ set (I was the guy standing in the back corner by the green room door). I would have asked if you guys could play “Knee Deep in the NPL” (instead of yelling it out towards the end of the show).
In any case, I will definitely catch you guys the next time you come through here again. Hope the rest of your tour is excellent!

Thanks so much for the fantastic show in Minneapolis – so exciting to finally see you play live! You are all fantastic.
It’s funny that you stayed in Nebraska, because I flew up from Nebraska to see you play in Minneapolis. Ha!

Tracyanne/Kenny/Gavin/Carey/Lee – it’s a couple of days late, but thank you for the privilege of sharing some time with you Friday evening in Chicago. My wife and I (both 40-something) flew up from St. Louis and were lucky enough to be by the stage for the entire show (I was standing next to the lad who was so persistent with Tracyanne in the encore). A fantastic show and a night I won’t soon forget – you all are truly special.
Please consider St. Louis on your next tour. You might be able to catch Chuck Berry while you’re here (yes, he lives here and still performs regularly). And I would be honored to play tour guide for you…
Safe travels and best wishes for the rest of the tour.

I saw you perform last night @ The Bluebird in Denver and you were all so amazing. I was super elated that you opened with one of my many favorite songs of yours, “My Maudlin Career.” I love the song so much that I have set it a an alarm tune to wake me up every morning and always brings a smile to my face. The performance overall was wonderful and loved it so much. However, my most favorite performance of the song, “Book written for Girls,” was the most touching. Your entire performance was sincere and amazing. Thanks for putting such a great show and (Tracyanne)for writing the most sincere, touching, and most wonderful lyrics. I’ve heard your music play on satellite radio on a station called Sirius XM-U. I look forward to listen to more of your music in the future and on mainstream radio. By the way could you please post the set list from this show. Thank you :)
