My Pamona
10 June 2009

Pamona was pretty. Purple Jacaranda trees lined the streets and the kids came out in force. I tell you, there was a lot of love in that room. We especially liked it when the balloons and the glitter appeared. Francois must have been so impressed with the sparkle he even had a costume change for the encore. We really appreciate the fact that so many people had travelled to see us, some as far as Mexico! In truth I was a little sad to end the show but that’s just me being over-sentimental.
We’re on our way to LA now to appear on the Craig Ferguson TV show. La di da.
On Thursday we’re going to play our last show with the magnificent Agent Ribbons at the Henry Fonda Theatre. We’ll be sorry to say goodbye to the Agents. We’ve really loved having them play with us and I hope you have all managed to catch their set.
See you in LA….

I was at the Pomona show and it was wonderful! I was standing in the back and there were some people who were behaving rudely by talking and carrying on during some of the band’s quieter moments. You probably could not hear them from onstage but if you did, I sincerely apologize. I hope you are feeling better and not hungover from drinking too much! You werent moving in slow motion either…The missing lyrics throughout and mis-fires on Rose were excellent, added so much intimacy to the show. Thanks again for a wonderful evening, see you in L.A.

Re the Craig Ferguson show, I am so very excited that “my band” is going to appear on national tv here in the U.S. However, my wife of 36 years and our daughters are advising me that I’m not a teenager, so I shouldn’t act like one.

Hi CO, We saw you for the first time at the Music Box in L.A. on Thursday 6/11. I was blown away. Can you provide the set list? There was one song I heard, very sad, that I don’t think I could find on iTunes. It was a beautiful, melancholy song; I wish I could remember some of the lyrics. I remember that after a few moments, the entire house got quiet, which is a big think in L.A., because the L.A. audiences can be very self-indulgent-chatty, enough to make you wonder why they’re there in the first place. Anyway, if you can provide the list or clues, that would be great. BTW I love your new album and I think you are fantastic. It’s weird, but your sad music puts me in a happy place! – Raphael

You guys were great at the 9:30 Club in DC tonight! Thanks, Traceyanne, for coming outside afterwards and signing autographs, taking photos; it really meant the world to me.

p.s. I love it that you never smile.

Completely off-topic question but I can’t find anywhere else to put it (you guys need a forum): Have you ever published a vinyl version of “Biggest Bluest Hi-Fi”? An eBay search produced nothing, as well as the typical retail locations, including Merge and 4AD. If I can find this, I shall die happy. :D

I was at your show in vancouver a few weeks back, and it was great! agent ribbons were also enjoyable, however, that crowd was brutal and i am sorry you guys had to experience that!
Why buy tickets to a show, make your way to the front just to talk really loud the entire time! who does that?

    love, mark

Please, come to Iowa (USA) someday! Don’t let the cornfield-stereotype sway you, it looks a lot like Scotland, seriously! It does!!

OK, I gotta ask, because I’ve been patiently waiting for answers and they’re not forthcoming.

Not only doesn’t the Boston concert on June 25 rate a single mention, almost as if it didn’t happen, but something was most definitely going on that night. Surely someone besides myself has commented on it. I don’t mean to sound paranoid but are you purging all references to it?

First, you sent out an ‘opening act’ that was obviously a last minute change. He performed for about 20 minutes, then disappeared. Second, this was followed by a half-hour wait before you all finally strolled on, and you looked very unhappy. Third, just before Boston you’d canceled two other appearances and made some vague mention about ‘personal difficulties’.

So what’s up with my favorite band?

I love your music and your voice. I have a 5 year old name James, who is a heart breaker already and a 7 year old names Francis who likes to be called Francis not Frank. We just moved and Bridget, the five year old next door is devasted. I hope my Jamsey dosent break her heart too bad.

When are you coming tp Boston, MA USA? When you do I’ll invite all my friends for a reunion of sorts. You’re awaesome. What a sound!

You probably know who Tracy Mann is frm Til’ Tuesday from Boston. I think you should do a a duet wih her.

I remember the day I leaving my parents house and was in love. I listened to the Til Tuesday tape over and over. Maudlin Career brings back all those memories.
    Thanx,

    Tom

Recently discovered courtesy of WYEP in Pittsburgh. We (husband and 3 teenage boys) LOVE the new CD. My Maudlin Career is by far the best new music we have heard in years. When I heard your voice, Tracyanne, I was hooked and haven’t stopped listening since. Although different styles and sounds, hearing you for the first time reminded me of when I heard Natalie Merchant of 10,000 Maniacs for the first time. So disctinctive and so wonderful! Hope the band makes it to the states and back to Pittsburgh again. You guys are awesome!
